Manheim Borough Authority (MBA) is a small water and wastewater Authority supplying approximately 3,000 water and 2,300 wastewater customers in the Manheim area. The area of service is the Borough of Manheim and portions of Penn and Rapho Townships, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
MBA produces approximately 600,000 gallons a day (GPD) average of water, with a plant permitted capacity of 1,063,000 (GPD).
MBA Wastewater Plant permit capacity is 2,300,000 GPD hydraulic capacity and 1,200,000 GPD organic capacity, with average flows of 700,000 GPD from residential, commercial and industrial customers. MBA also receives and treats hauled waste with an average of 83,000 GPD hauled waste from various haulers and sites.
The Manheim Water Company was Incorporated in 1884, under general Corporation act of April 29, 1874. (P.L. 73). It began supplying the citizens of the Borough of Manheim in 1885 and to the Borough in 1888. In February 1910 the Borough became desirous of obtaining the property of the Manheim Water Company and presented a partitioned for the appointment of appraisers under the act of May 31, 1907 (P.L. 355). In October of 1885, the Manheim Water Company began service. Forty-eight fireplugs were placed in the borough at a cost to the town council of $2,827.50.
